The story of Katherine and Alice
The Clay Workshop is the dream of two ceramic artists that comes to life in September 2023.
The two women became friends while teaching classes for 10 years in the same renowned workshop in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. From this friendship, a dream was born, became a project, and through extensive research and beautiful encounters, it evolves into a place of sharing by settling beside the Canal de L'Ourcq, opposite the Parc de la Villette.
The Clay Workshop is open to ceramics in all its forms. Training, personal creations, collective efforts, sharing of ideas and techniques, exhibitions, everything is to be imagined, everything is to be done together, and the two friends are delighted about it.
Painter and ceramic artist, one of the friends, Katherine Oh, was born in Los Angeles. She grew up in California and studied fine arts at the San Francisco Art Institute. She chose to live in Paris in 1999, graduated from the Beaux Arts of Paris in 2005, has been teaching ceramics since 2004, and exhibits her paintings in many Parisian galleries.
The other friend, Alice Elleboode, a ceramic artist and plastic artist, was born in Paris. Passionate about ceramics since childhood, she left Paris after her baccalaureate and enrolled in the School of Fine Arts and Ceramics in Tarbes. Once graduated, she went to Burgundy to a potters' village: St Amand-en-Puisaye. At the training center for arts and ceramics (CNIFOP), she acquired the sure and precise techniques of artisans. After many travels in Europe and around the world, meeting artists and their techniques, she returned to Paris in 2012 to teach her know-how in several workshops while working on her personal creations.
