Chrysanthemum Plate D 11cm TY Palace - White Gray
€20.00
Aritayaki is a type of Japanese pottery that has its roots in the ancient ceramic town of Arita, located on Kyushu Island in the south of Japan. It was in this town, in 1616, that Koreans introduced the art of pottery to Japan. Arita still produces ceramics made by local artisans using the distinctive ingredient of clay made from crushed stone. Inspired by the experience and deep skills of the local artisans of Arita, designer and creative director Teruhiro Yanagihara developed a complete new brand of ceramics for Momota-Touen Corporation. Named after its origins, the products 1616 / Arita Japan are produced in the same factories as the original Arita pottery, but take a completely different design approach. 1616 / Arita Japan stands for contemporary products that can be used every day, although they are made with the extraordinary finish, finesse, and sturdiness of original Arita items.
Following the tradition of Arita pottery, Teruhiro Yanagihara has developed a new series of ceramics using the traditional technique of clay made from crushed stone, although the composition is different. The result is a type of high-density clay that makes pottery items extremely strong and resistant to heat and stains, even without glazing.
You might worry that unglazed pottery could absorb liquids. Not at all! Since the plate is made of high-density clay, you don’t have to worry about the penetration of oil or soy sauce. (However, we recommend washing the plates as soon as possible when you have finished using them.)
A special agent added to the clay gives the Standard series a very characteristic light grey and matte tone. In fact, this plate is made of clay with a density 1.8 times higher than that of traditional Japanese porcelain, giving it a sturdiness suited for everyday use (dishwasher, microwave...)
The TY palace plate from 1616 resembles a large flower. It was specially designed for a traditional prestigious hotel, the "Palace Hotel Tokyo" established in 1961. The hotel is one of the prestigious hotels in Japan. Many personalities from around the world love this hotel. 1616 / arita japan is officially recognized as an appropriate brand for this luxury hotel. This series of TY palace plates was designed when 1616 arita opened its store at the "Palace Hotel Tokyo". The design was inspired by the great blooming of the chrysanthemum. The chrysanthemum is an emblem of the Japanese imperial family.
