The story of Camille
Eugène Griotte is a young French porcelain brand registered, crafting handmade objects with care. It sits between a somewhat old-fashioned and naive side of antique objects, and a reimagined use of these outdated forms. Each piece or collection tells a different story, to which its owner is invited. From everyday objects to decorative pieces, from espresso cups to jewelry, Eugène slightly alters the habits related to the use of its items, hoping to initiate new rituals.
Camille Le Chatelier, the brand's creator, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at Limoges in the principles of sculpture and volume. This training provided her with a vision of creation drawn from both contemporary art and artisanal craftsmanship. In her approach, it is just as important to break the codes as it is to maintain a deep respect for the disciplines she was taught (metal, wood, ceramics, dyeing). A long stay in Jingdezhen, the ancestral capital of Chinese porcelain, allowed her to confront her knowledge with a very different tradition.
The Eugène Griotte brand is a fantastic playground to transition from sculpture to object and a fertile ground for collaborations. Starting with the one that gave birth to the brand's visual identity, developed by David Ha, designer and illustrator.
