11:30 - 19:30
L'Atelier du Temps
Invited by Alain, from the Atelier du Temps, the exhibition will present some pieces by Michele Finzi, who will be present on this occasion.
🥂 Opening on the evening of May 28, the first day of the exhibition.
Pieces of wood or metal, transformed without initial intention, are guided by the material. A small Dogon shepherd from Mali, or from the Himalayas, becomes an artist without knowing it.
Michele Finzi herself plays along, for pleasure, by playing with found materials collected randomly during encounters.
She will make the connection with the Arte Povera movement, this "poor art" that she had named simple art.
At a traditional market in Senegal, she discovers Seyni Awa Camara, now recognized worldwide. She will dedicate a work to her, Solitude d’argile, légende autour d’une vie, published by L’Harmattan.
Michele Finzi is an anthropologist in Africa, author of several publications and a doctoral thesis defended in 1970 on associations in African cities.
She discovers Nepal in 1985, while continuing to live in Africa. She then becomes passionate about artists outside the classical status and about an aesthetic without initial intention, encountered both in Africa and Nepal.
Numerous publications edited in Nepal and France.
