The story of Alain
Alain is a trained building painter. Not a flea market dealer. And yet, since childhood, he dreamed of being an archaeologist — or a theater decorator. “In the end, I’m not very far off”, he says with a smile.
It is this spirit that animates The Workshop of Time: each object is arranged like a scenography, to inspire you to project yourself, to find ideas, to dream your interior.
The adventure begins early. At 20, Alain already runs a flea market shop at Village Saint-Paul, in Paris. Life then takes him south, before bringing him back to the capital, where he practices another profession for fifteen years. But the passion does not fade.
Two years ago, he opened his first shop at 79 rue Rébéval, in the 19th. Today, he is settling in: a few meters further down the same street, a new space, larger, brighter — 12 square meters more to give even more room for objects and encounters.
Here you can find everything, from all eras:
- Lamps, mirrors, and light fixtures
- Furniture and shelves
- Curiosity objects and decorative pieces
- Dishes and glasses
“I do all eras because I think everything can please and that we can mix everything.” New found pieces arrive regularly — there are never two visits alike.
The Workshop of Time is also a place for exchanges. In this corner of the 19th that resembles a village, Alain has been warmly welcomed by his neighbors, his clients, the entire neighborhood. A place where you enter to look, and where you stay to chat.
