The story of Pauline
With over 10 years of existence, the Musée de poche has established itself as one of the pioneering institutions in artistic and cultural awakening, at a time when other cultural institutions paid little attention to young children. Since then, its mission has been to reveal the imaginative and creative part that lies dormant in every small human being. What differentiates us from other animals is our capacity for wonder: in front of the musicality of words, the beauty of images, and the pleasure of creating with our hands. Studies show that the earlier children engage with culture, the more it will accompany and help them through all phases of their development into adulthood. We believe that like a “food*”, a beneficial sap, it is essential for the flourishing of all children.
The Musée de poche is a small cultural venue (approximately the size of a pocket) where works of living artists are gathered for the pleasure of young and old alike. This mini-museum offers monthly temporary exhibitions of contemporary illustrations. In the gallery, at children's eye level, we observe, listen, and awaken to art without even realizing it! Entry is free and open to all.
To extend the discovery, the Musée de poche offers workshops combining art history and artistic practice based on its exhibitions with a team of professional cultural mediators specialized in young audiences. At the Musée de poche, we sharpen our perspectives, forge our tastes, deepen our knowledge, untie our tongues and fingers to experiment with Art daily in a re-creative way! Our workshops allow everyone to express themselves through dialogue, interaction, and experimentation in a pedagogical approach to Art through play.
The Musée de poche also offers its visitors a selection of products of high cultural value: artistic education books, children’s albums, pop-ups, artists’ books, activity notebooks, kits, and creative tools to continue raising awareness of the world of images and the expression of all talents.
Its small size naturally predisposes it to itinerancy, and it also operates in schools, social centers, specialized institutes, and nurseries sometimes far from the capital, in a concern for equal access to culture.
